NYUAD Debate Tournaments
The NYUAD debate tournaments are designed to create a friendly and competitive environment between schools, and provide formal speech and debate experience to students. The tournaments are staffed by members of the NYUAD debate team, who personally proctor the debates and teach workshops leading up to them. Not only are these tournaments fun and informative to individuals, but they have also played a critical role in creating a strong high school debate community in Abu Dhabi.
NYUAD Debate Tournament (2018)
In this tournament my team placed 2nd out of 30 teams, while I placed 9th out of 90 participants. Our team went 4 for 4, qualifying us for the semi-finals and eventually the finals.
NYUAD Debate Tournament (2019)
This year the competition was nearly twice as large and much more fierce. Our team placed 8th out of 50 teams, while I placed 20th out of 150 debaters. We won 3/4 of our debates overall, which unfortunately meant that we were not qualified to participate in the semi-finals.
